What can you say about Pop's Corn Crib but 'I'll have the Frito Pie and is this Hooterville'? This charming ramshackle shack is smack dab at the center of What it Is in Crystal Lake, Illinois, perched crookedly on a flimsy wood platform at the foot of old downtown, right next to the train depot. Every time my husband and I visit family here I have to stop by for the Pie and a sticky home made popcorn ball. The Crib is Lil Abner cute, and reminds me of various snack shacks I frequented as a kid. If you have time while waiting for the next train out of town, it is the perfect place to take a walk up the street and tour this tiny burg, with it's quaint shops and run down bars. It doesn't get much better than this. On Thursdays in the summer there used to be a great vintage car rally here, until somebody got stabbed last year.

Like the popcorn balls and caramel corn. Great place to take the kids. There are a few benches in the grass behind the place where you can sit.

Great joint must go to when in Crystal lake besides going to the lake. Owner is nice and this place is a staple. They have been around Crystal lake forever and have earned there spit on the block for sure

Rude service, stale popcorn served up in a ziplock baggie, what a "treasure." If I was starving and it was free, I'd avoid the place!

Love the popcorn balls! Also, the Pop's Ultimate Dog. Not the highest quality dog, but it comes with mayo, onion, tomato, bacon and celery salt. My cholesterol loves it!!! Kids love everything about this place!

Pop's rocks! Seriously. They're a community treasure.
